Education Cuts Stopped

2 Mar 2023

The Council recently set it's budget for the coming year, and Liberal Democrat proposals received the most support from councillors.

The Liberal Democrat budget passing has stopped an estimated £6 million cut in education budgets.

Local councillor Euan Davidson said, "These cuts would have decimated speech and language therapy services and made it much harder for Head Teachers to make the right decisions for their pupils and staff. After years of cuts by the previous SNP/Labour administration, this is the first budget for many years where the devolved school budgets are not going to be cut. We will always do everything we can to ensure that education gets the funding that it deserves."
