Gullies

18 Jun 2025

Local Lib Dem Councillorr Alan Beal says: "We were very pleased to see gullies finally cleared on Corstorphine Hill & Clermiston Road. Blocked gullies have always ben a major concern of mine - unblocking them makes water flow into the drains rather than down roads when the rain finally comes, reducing chances of flooding significantly.

"Having seen Clermiston Road like a river 10 years I know what a difference this can make! Thanks to all those who self reported blocked gullies on the Council website – please continue to do this before contacting your Councillors. It really helps us to follow up if there is already a report on the system.

“The major Scottish Water works at Roseburn are linked to this – instead of water run off going into the Water of Leith, it will go into a new holding tank so that it can be released gradually. Your Councillors recently met with the Council’s Flooding Officer to talk about possible projects. As ever, please get in touch if you have a gully or flooding issue.”
