Lib Dem WIN: Traffic lights set to come to St Clair Street after Leith community campaign
This is a major milestone for the notorious Leith junction where St Clair Street, Easter Road, and Dalmeny Street meet.
Leith Walk Lib Dem Councillor Jack Caldwell set up a petition earlier this year which garnered over 180 signatures. He then took a report to transport officers based on past evidence of incidents and quotes from nearby residents.
Around £10,000 has been secured for design works.
Council officers are hoping to have them installed between April 2027 and April 2028.
Councillor Caldwell said "Thank you to everyone who signed and shared my petition and backed our campaign for road safety in Leith!
I'll keep pushing for this to become a reality for the many pedestrians, cyclists, bus passengers, and drivers who dread crossing this junction."
