Pentland Hills

Des Buchanan is working hard for our communities

Liberal Democrat candidate for Pentland Hills

Des Buchanan is the Liberal Democrat candidate for Pentland Hills, which includes Balerno, Currie, Juniper Green, Baberton and Ratho, at the council election in May 2027.

Des lives locally in rural west Edinburgh and has been knocking on doors across the villages.

His main campaign is for a fair share of roads funding. Our villages have received significantly less funding than other parts of the Council area for many years - most starkly in 2022, where we received just £21,349 in road repair funding, compared to over £1m in other parts of the city.

Des also wants visible community police back in the villages, and backs protecting our green belt.

"I want to be a councillor who chases things up and works hard all year round, not just at election times," said Des. "I'm keen to work with others to get stuff done."
