The Liberal Democrat group is currently the second-largest on Edinburgh Council, with 14 councillors.
At the 2022 Council Elections, the Liberal Democrat group in Edinburgh doubled in number to 12 councillors.
Following the elections, we took up leadership positions on three non-political committees and began to make important strides in the Council for residents.
So far we have achieved big wins on pavement parking, tourist tax, EV charging, trees management, playground maintenance, school air quality and speeding enforcement. Lib Dem councillors have successfully won additional funding for road repairs each year of this term so far, and recently ensured that Council funding for road safety measures is the highest it has ever been, with a special focus on road saefty near schools.
In March 2023, we won the Corstorphine/Murrayfield by-election, with Fiona Bennett becoming our 13th councillor. In June 2025, we won the Fountainbridge/Craiglockhart by-election, with Kevin McKay elected.
