Many people have raised concerns about the impact that the introduction of VAT on independent school places may have locally.
Up to 21% of Edinburgh school pupils attend independent schools.
Cllr Euan Davidson introduced a motion asking for the potential impact on state schools to be explored due to existing pressures on places and staff.
