Update on the 13 Bus
A number of residents have been in touch regarding the unreliable service of the number 13 Bus. This route is a vital service for those living in the Craigleith/Blackhall area as it not only going to Craigleith Retail Park but also provides a direct link to the City centre. The route has been subsidised by the Council for a number of years and has also gone through a number of different operators. The full route runs from Craigleith Retail Park, through the city Centre and on to Lochend in the east of the City. The present operator, Midland Bluebird, has said that problems accessing parts of the route on the eastern end is causing issues with the reliability of the services hence the changes in the timetable.
Hal Osler says “I have met recently with officers to discuss the 13 service and the issues that the unreliable service is having on users in the western part of the city. I have impressed upon them that this is a vital link for many relying on this service but standing out in all weathers waiting for a bus that may or may not come, is taking its toll and numbers are dropping. Council officers have assured me that this is being looked at and the service is being reviewed. I will of course be following this up as I know how important this service is to the local community.”
