Traffic calming in Pilrig

20 Feb 2023

This morning, the junction between Cambridge Avenue and Pilrig Street was re-closed and the 'No Entry' signs in Arthur Street were removed, closing the one-way system.

This is in preparation for the permanent reclosure of both the Pilrig Street/Cambridge Avenue junction and the Balfour Street/Arthur Street junction, both of which were open for the past 3 years to facilitate the tramworks on Leith Walk but had become rat-runs.

The permanent reclosures plus a traffic island on Pilrig Street will be installed in the coming weeks with the bus stop moving a few metres west. This will be done by the Trams to Newhaven project.
