Torwood Path Upgrades Further Delayed

The path to be upgraded

The planned upgrades to the path running from Torwood Crescent to Meadow Place Road have been further delayed.

Originally supposed to begin in May, the works have been repeatedly delayed.

Local Lib Dem councillor Ed Thornley said, “We’ve now learned that a review of the design threw up some suggested changes, meaning a delay while a decision is made on further funding.

“This is of course extremely frustrating. We’re now looking at work beginning, if the funding is secured, potentially in summer 2024. That’s over a year after the original start date.

“We need this work to go ahead, but in the meantime it is now absolutely essential that basic maintenance and important repairs are undertaken. Wherever the upgrade works go now, the Council needs to make this path safe again for people to walk along.”
