Torwood Crescent Path Works Update

4 Oct 2023

Work to widen and provide lighting on the path running from Torwood Crescent towards the school and Meadow Place Road has been heavily delayed.

Though the hope was to begin in April, there was a substantial as the Council waited for a decision from Transport Scotland. Permission to proceed has now been granted.

Local Lib Dem councillor Ed Thornley said, “I’m glad this work is still going ahead, even if it has been delayed way past the original timeline.

"The project is now out to tender, for contractors to bid on, and this has to be open for a set length of time. That does mean that work will not begin this year.

"By the time the Council is able to get moving on this, it will be coming up on a year overdue. We know there have been delays outwith the Council's control, such as waiting for a Transport Scotland decision, but that really is not acceptable.

"This is much needed investment, to help people get about and to do so safely - especially after the rerouting of the 12 bus. This needs to happen, and needs to happen as fast as possible."
