As part of the West Edinburgh Link project, the path will be widened and lighting installed, and this should begin in April.
Local Lib Dem councillor Ed Thornley said, “This is good news. The path was one of the first local issues that residents raised with me after the election in May, and I’m glad that these plans will move forward.
“I’m especially glad that lighting will be added. Quite a few residents, especially women, have raised concerns with me about safe walking routes now that the night-time No12 bus service has gone.
“It’s important that we make sure our pedestrian routes don’t just meet on paper criteria for safety, but that they also feel safe for residents.”
