Taxi Outing Saved!

10 Jun 2026

Christine alongside Edinburgh MP colleagues was delighted when the annual taxi outing was saved following campaigning by residents and politicians.

Christine called for urgent action, signing a letter alongside her fellow Edinburgh MPs, calling on Police Scotland and the Scottish Government to do everything in their power to make sure the day could run smoothly.

She said: “As soon as the news started to break so many people got in touch asking what I could do to help get it back on track.

"We all recognise the value of this cherished tradition, not just to the children but to the spirit of the city. It needs to be saved. It was heartbreaking to think that the children may lose out because of a rigid national policy. Edinburgh’s taxi drivers have given their time to this event for generations, and the community is rightly proud of all involved in making this truly special day happen.

"The people of Edinburgh wanted us to work together to try and save it, and that’s what we managed to do.”
