St Mark's Park Bridge update: Council publishes report
Thank you to everyone who's been in touch about the closed bridge at Powderhall. From kids' park access to cycling in north Edinburgh, its closure is having a massive impact on local residents.
The Council have published a 15-page report of the current state of the bridge, which is embedded below.
It does not make for optimistic reading. The estimated budget for a full replacement is over £2million with a view that it currently wouldn't reopen until 2028 at the earliest, if funding can be found.
That's why Lib Dem councillors are now absolutely focussed on pushing for a solution. We will continue raising it in the City Chambers and explore solutions for our local community.
Leith Walk Councillor Jack Caldwell and Inverleith Councillor Hal Osler led the way to get publicly accessible information and surveys earlier this year as soon as the emergency closure was made, and will continue to work alongside Edinburgh Northern MSP Sanne Dijkstra-Downie to keep the matter at the top of the agenda. The communities of Broughton, Powderhall, Canonmills, Warriston and wider rely on this bridge and deserve restored access at the earliest opportunity.
