Speed Limit Reductions

Long-awaited speed limit reductions on several local main roads are finally due to begin over the summer. 

The speed limit on Queensferry Road, Glasgow Road and South Gyle Broadway will be lowered from 40mph to 30mph. 

Local Lib Dem councillor Ed Thornley said, "It's been six years since this change was agreed, and it's only now getting delivered on. These are all major road which young people must cross to get to school. 

"Simply, the Council needs to get better at actually delivering. There have been too many false starts. It should not take six years to make relatively basic road safety changes.

“Lib Dem councillors secured extra road safety funding in the Council's budget this year, and hopefully we'll start to see real progress on road safety soon.”

The speed limit on South Gyle Broadway will change in June, while Glasgow and Queensferry Roads will change in July.
