Roseburn Path Update

By the time you read this article, the long awaited tram consultation will have finished.

If our inboxes are anything to go by, the vast majority of people do not want to turn over the Roseburn Path to trams, and as your Lib Dem team, nor do we!

Local Lib Dem Councillor Alan Beal asked the Labour Council Leader at full council in September: “Now that the consultation has started, what percentage will be enough to reject the Roseburn Path route as an option - will it be 50, 60, 70%?” 

The answer was not forthcoming.

We think that the results of the consultation should be the significant factor in the decision.

Then there is a question of funding – the cost of the business plan alone is £40 million, and the potential cost of the whole scheme is estimated at least £1.9 billion.

This is a breathtaking amount of money when we can’t even get streets throughout Edinburgh cleared of weeds.
