Roseburn Path
I know that, like me, many residents are concerned about the council's proposal to convert the Roseburn Path into a tram route. This path is a really important green space, and a valuable active travel route. It's heavily used by walkers and cyclists for both commuting and leisure. And the development would involve removing a lot of mature trees, which would be a great loss to the neighbourhood. As a local scout leader I am enthusiastic about the value of getting young people outside and in contact with nature. And tree cover helps with controlling flooding, which is becoming ever more important as our climate changes.
Of course public transport is important, but it mustn’t come at the expense of our active travel network and our green spaces.
The council will be opening a consultation in August, and residents will be able to make their views known. You can find out more here.
