The Council's Transport and Environment committee has agreed the list of roads and pavements which will be resurfaced or repaired this year.

Local Lib Dem councillor Ed Thornley said, "Far and away the biggest issue that residents raise with us is the state of Edinburgh's roads. That's why Lib Dem councillors have consistently pushed for more funding to improve the quality of roads across the city.

“Our budget proposals for the last two years saw an extra £12.5 million spent on road repairs per year, and this year we secured the same again."

In the Drum Brae/Gyle ward, the following roads will have work undertaken; Almond Green, Bramble Drive, Burnbrae, Forrester Park Avenue, Gogarloch Bank, Gogarloch Road, Parkgrove Place, South Gyle Mains and South Gyle Wynd.

Pavements and footways on the following roads will receive work; Alan Breck Gardens, Blackthorn Court, Drum Brae Gardens, Duart Crescent, and Fauldburn Park.

Local Lib Dem councillor Ed Thornley added, "This is another year of new funding over the last few years, secured by Lib Dem councillors in the Council's budget process - and it's great to see work will take place across the ward. That said, there are several roads we have been pushing for repairs on for years which have not been included, like Craigmount Grove North or the pavements on Hayfield, so we will keep up the pressure to get proper repairs done on these roads too."
