Railway Bridge Replacement Works at South Gyle

31 Jul 2025

Starting in August, Network Rail will be undertaking work to replace the bridge over the railway at South Gyle Road.

Work is expected to last until Spring next year, and is part of a programme to enable electric trains to run between Haymarket and Dalmeny stations.

A temporary footbridge will be installed to maintain pedestrian access for the majority of the project. So that can be installed safely, the access from South Gyle Road to Platform 1 and the staircase to Platform 2 will be closed between 4th August and 14th September.

During that closure, there will be a diversion route for pedestrian access via South Gyle Gardens to Platform 1, and via South Gyle Road to Platform 2.

The road over the bridge, which leads to a small section of the station car park, will be closed for the duration of the work.
