Powderhall path closure update
The path between Broughton Road and St Mark's Park was closed on Monday 17th November to commence the development on the old bowling greens.
The works involve building a nursery, 27 homes, and widen the path, which is a positive in the long term. The planning permission was approved in 2021 and plans can be found under reference 21/00381/FUL.
Many residents have raised concerns about the initial length of closure (8 weeks), the indication of up to two years in a newsletter, and the suitability of the alternate route down a steep, gravelly hill.
Councillor Caldwell has been pushing for better acccess during construction works.
Councillor Caldwell has also raised concerns on the process; including the very short notification time and the Temporary Traffic Regulation Order not being published on the Council website.
The site manager and Council department both independently confirmed to Councillor Caldwell on 26th November that they are exploring an alternate, parallel path to the east of the current path, and are currently assessing if this would be possible while in-keeping with health and safety.
The construction company have published a newsletter at c-c-g.co.uk/community/site-information/edinburgh.
The Council have requested patience while they assess this potential alternate diversion.
