Paths and Parking in Gyle Park

5 Mar 2024

Work to improve path surfaces in the park, led by the Friends of Gyle Park, is underway.

The Friends secured funding for the work from the charity Paths for All (more information about them here), and work began on the paths heading south from Glasgow Road into the park.

Over the next few weeks, work will take place on several more paths in the park to improve surfaces and make the park easier to get around.

Parking is continuing to provide a challenge for many park users though.

Local Lib Dem councillor Ed Thornley said, "It's great to see barriers protecting the new path from Glasgow Road from pavement parking, but the problems on the David Lloyd access road are still ongoing - as any park user knows.

"Though the Council has the new pavement parking ban in place, it can't be enforced here because it's a private road. We're working with the Friends, Council and Community Police team to try and find a solution."
