North Gyle Flooding - June Update

30 May 2023

After the Lib Dem budget passed in February, allocating £2 million to flood prevention across the city, a report has now come back showing what that moeny will be spent on.

There are fund for several places across Edinburgh, but crucially, money has been allocated to fund a flood study in North Gyle.

Local Lib Dem councillor Ed Thornley said, "It's really encouraging to see this important step forward. While it doesn't provide the solution on it's own, it will move us closer. This study will give an idea of what is causing the problem and what is needed to fix it.

"After months of working with the newly-formed North Gyle Flood Group, trying to get recognition that flooding is a serious problem here, it's great to finally see that recognised.

"There's a long way to go, but we're going to keep pushing to make sure this is treated as seriously as it deserves."
