Making travelling in our local communities safer for everyone!
The Active Travel team have planned some local improvements with the aim of making it safer and easier for everyone to get around on foot and by bike. As part of this work, the team will be upgrading several side road crossings and adding new “build-outs”, small extensions of the pavement that help slow traffic and make it easier for pedestrians and cyclists to see and be seen.
One of the planned sites is on Ravelston Dykes, near the entrance and exit to National Cycle Network Route 1 (NCN1). Here, the proposal includes narrowing one side of the carriageway to create a safer and more comfortable crossing point.
We're hopeful these changes will make a positive difference for people walking, wheeling, and cycling in the area, creating a safer and more pleasant street environment for everyone.
However, if you have any thoughts or concerns about the plans, please don't hesitate to get in touch, we'd be very happy to hear from you.
