Lib Dems win BIG in Edinburgh Council Elections

6 May 2022

Edinburgh's Liberal Democrats have said a massive 'thank you' to all the local people who supported them in the Council Elections.

The Lib Dems came second overall in the city, with more votes than Labour or the Conservatives.

There are now 12 Lib Dem councillors in Edinburgh, twice as many as before the election.

Lib Dem group leader Kevin Lang said, "I'm so exciting to be leading this energetic and expanded team. We've got councillors elected in parts of the city that have been Lib Dem-free for a decade. From Queensferry and Corstorphine to Leith and Newington, Lib Dem councillors will be champions for their communities.

"We have a real chance now, to make change in the way our city and our Council operate. To open up the Council to our communities again, and make sure that it listens to local people. That's what Liberal Democrat councillors will be making our top priority."
