Lib Dems vow to fight latest Cammo Greenbelt plans

26 Feb 2024

The local Liberal Democrat team has vowed to see off a new attempt to build on the Cammo greenbelt.

Developers have submitted a new planning application to turn over hundreds of acres of greenbelt land at Cammo to new housing. The proposals are similar to those rejected just a year ago by both the Council and the Scottish Government.

Local Lib Dem councillor, Kevin Lang, said: “It seems these developers simply cannot take no for an answer.

“Land studies have shown that Edinburgh can meet its new housing targets by developing on brownfield sites. There is simply no need to concrete over more of our precious green and open space at Cammo.

“Hundreds of objections last time meant the previous application was rejected. We hope we can protect our local greenbelt and stop this latest plan.”
