Lib Dems fight latest Cammo development plans

The local Liberal Democrat team has vowed to see off a new attempt to build on the Cammo greenbelt.

Developers have submitted a new planning application to turn over hundreds of acres of greenbelt land at Cammo to new housing. The proposals are similar to those rejected just a year ago by both the Council and the Scottish Government.

Local Lib Dem councillor Robert Aldridge said, “It seems developers cannot take no for an answer on this site.

“Land studies have shown that Edinburgh can meet its new housing targets by developing on brownfield sites. There is simply not need to concrete over more greenbelt land and open space at Cammo.

“Hundreds of objections last time, and over 1000 resident signatures on our petition, meant the previous application was rejected. We hope we can protect our local greenbelt and stop this latest plan.”
