Lib Dems blast misleading Low Traffic Neighbourhood survey

A survey was published by the council on residents’ attitudes towards the low traffic neighbourhood scheme around Manse Road and Featherhalls in Corstorphine. The survey asked local people on the street their views.

Councillor Alan Beal said: “We consider this report flawed as it did not ask people about the bus gate and only asked those who live in the area, not those who use it. I’m surprised that they managed to speak to over 300 people from 472 households”.

Despite this, a large majority agreed that traffic in almost all surroundings’ streets had increased, and only 4% of respondents added a positive
comment.

Many indicators were unchanged or showed small changes, such as cycling benefits. Those who live in the LTN should be the happiest of all residents if it is working successfully!

What is most concerning is that because of a small change to the restricted hours, the whole process has restarted for 6 months, so that it will be even longer before it is discussed properly and a decision can be made.
