Following the Newhaven Village Public Meeting last autumn, Sanne has been working with Newhaven residents to make a number of improvements. These include:

 Better street lighting

Sanne arranged a walkabout with Council officers to look at improving street lighting in areas that are too dark and are attracting anti-social behaviour. Improvements have already been made to some existing streetlights, with new lights still being considered. Housing officers have also joined site visits to look at repairs, Great Michael Close wall repairs

Sanne has been chasing repairs to this wall for a long time and has now received a commitment that the works here will start once a suitable contractor can be appointed.

Grass Cutting

Issues with access to the Burial Ground appear to now be resolved.

More weed removals

Sanne is pushing for additional weeding in Newhaven to be part of an area-wide street cleaning initiative this spring. This work is increasingly done by hand as the Council is phasing out the use of harmful chemicals

Resolving bin store issues

Waste crews have been reminded again to close bin stores after emptying the bins

Parking and idling enforcement

Sanne has asked for increased parking enforcement across dropped kerbs and in front of Newhaven Harbour. She has also requested 'No Idling' signs for cruise ship coaches.
