Junction Works Delayed at Craigs Road

7 Aug 2023

Works to install traffic lights and pedestrian crossings at the junction of Craigs Road and Maybury Road still have no confirmed start date.

Local Lib Dem councillor Robert Aldridge said, “We know these works raise a lot of concerns for residents, and the Council and developer need to move quickly to bring clarity to this situation.

“Residents tell us they have received no notification of incoming works and their questions about what exactly the effects will be still have not had clear answers.

“We are working to preserve residents’ access to East Craigs Rigg once the junction is installed, ensure disruption is kept as low as possible when the work does start, and to get much-needed clarity for local people.

“These works are likely to take a long time, but this is a vital route for many. This needs to be communicated properly and clearly, rather than dropped on people at the last minute.”

Local Lib Dem councillor Ed Thornley added, "We have managed to get a commitment from the Council to look at appropriate measures to protect resident access to East Craigs Rigg. This could be a yellow hatched box, or Keep Clear markings at the entrance."
