Inverleith Park - Suspected Dog Poisoning

2 Aug 2023

Unfortunately a number of dogs have become ill after visiting Inverleith Park, and two now sadly have died.

This is obviously a very upsetting and also worrying matter for a number of residents. Investigation is ongoing as to what might have caused the issue and where the dogs might have come across something toxic.

Officers have been in contact with the owners of affected dogs and are awaiting the results of toxicology tests. In the meantime and to rule it out as a cause of concern, Inverleith pond was tested and the results came back within normal parameters.

At the time of writing no new dog illnesses had been reported since the middle of July but if anyone has any information please do let me know by emailing me at hal.osler@edinburgh.gov.uk
