Getting rid of unsafe cladding
Sanne Dijkstra-Downie MSP has been working to tackle the issue of unsafe cladding and make sure residents are not left living in homes they cannot feel safe in.
She has raised concerns about buildings affected by cladding and has pushed the Scottish Government to take action to help residents affected by the problem. She has also been engaging with residents and local communities to understand the problems they are facing and to make sure their concerns are being heard.
Unsafe cladding can leave people facing uncertainty, expensive bills and difficulties selling or remortgaging their homes. For many residents, this has been an ongoing issue for years.
Sanne has called for greater action to identify buildings affected by unsafe cladding and to ensure that people are not left to deal with the costs and stress themselves, having raised this directly with the Minister in Parliament.
Sanne said “Getting answers from the Scottish Government and making sure residents are not forgotten is my goal.
It’s simple: people should be able to feel safe in their own homes without being left facing years of uncertainty because of problems with their building's cladding.”
