For many years there have been concerns about the safety of what is known as Farmer’s Junction, at the top of Strachan Road, as presently it is very difficult to access this junction safely as a pedestrian.

This is especially true for those with a sight or mobility impairment, given that many of the crossings are missing vital aids.

Local Lib Dem councillor Hal Osler said, “I am delighted to say that after lots of constant pressure, at Council in December, it was agreed that the junction would be considered for improvements as part of the Local Traffic Improvement Programme.

"Although it will take some time to bring forward improvements, it is at least now being actively considered. I would like to thank the local  community, Sight Scotland and fellow Inverleith Councillors for helping us finally get some action on this.

"It is vital that we do prioritise pedestrians and active travel, and provide people with a safe environment to move around in.”
