Eyre Place development bypasses Council

8 Mar 2023

Residents in Canonmills contacted Cllr Caldwell recently with thoughts on the proposed development at Eyre Place. Unfortunately, this will not be heard at the Council's Development Management sub-committee anymore as the applicants have opted to go straight to the Scottish Government.

This means there will be no local scrutiny or conditions placed on the application if it's granted.

You may notice paralells with the Council rejecting a development on the Canonmills Bridge a few years back and the Scottish Government overturning it. We clearly need planning reform.

Cllr Caldwell will still be engaging with residents and stakeholders for plans still awaiting a decision in the ward on Halmyre Street, Arthur Street, Dunedin Street and Ashley Place.
