Dangerous Concrete in Schools

7 Sep 2023

Recent reports of problems with Reinforced Autoclave Aerated Concrete (RAAC) in Edinburgh's schools are incredibly concerning. We were particularly worried to hear that there is some present in Fox Covert/St Andrews Primary which serves part of our community.

Following enquiries, we are reassured that appropriate measures are being taken to ensure pupil and staff safety.

Local Lib Dem councillor Euan Davidson said, "At this week's Education Committee, Lib Dem councillors led calls for financial support from the Scottish Government so that these repairs can be made permanent, so far that money has not been forthcoming.

"Until, it does we will keep up the pressure to ensure that all our school buildings locally are safe."
