Councillors stand up for affordable housing, youthwork, and libraries

This week, in a Council chamber fractured five ways, Lib Dem Councillors got some key policy wins for youth centres, libraries and new affordable housing.

Thursday 28th September saw the monthly meeting of 63 Councillors take place, and the 13-strong group of Lib Dems got the following key policy wins;

  1. Retained Edinburgh’s ambitious ‘completed affordable homes’ target for this year
  2. Stood up for youth provision by halting further delays to the ‘Connected Communities’ grants
  3. Prioritised service delivery for buildings such as libraries that are closed due to RAAC

As well as get support for a safe Drug Consumption Room in Edinburgh, showers at Portobello Beach, and starting a promotional campaign to increase the uptake of the Edinburgh School Uniform Grant.
