Council Called Out for Path Surface Failures

7 Oct 2025

Local Lib Dem councillor Ed Thornley has been pushing the Council to take action on the appalling state of the paths in East Craigs.

Ed said, “Last year we managed to get the path along Fauldburn Park resurfaced, but mostly, the new surface was simply laid on top of the old, meaning all the lumps and bumps are still there.

“Now the Council say that the path from Craigmount High towards Bughtlin Market isn’t in need of repair, nor have other stretches been considered for work.

“There are serious hazards along these paths, given the broken surfaces and tree roots, especially at night, and its time the Council took it seriously.”

Ed is working with the local Community Council to secure a meeting on site with council officers so they can see the surface, and the need for repairs, for themselves.
