Corstorphine approved a Firework Control Zone

9 Oct 2026

In August Edinburgh Council's Culture and Communities Committee approved Corstorphine as one of ten new Firework Control Zones (FCZs) in the city.

With Edinburgh Zoo at the heart of our ward, I was delighted with this decision. RZSS Chief Executive, David Field, has been very vocal on the impact fireworks can have on many of the zoo's inhabitants, not forgetting the death of red panda, Roxy, in 2024.

Hopefully, with the fireworks ban between the 30th October and the 8th November, the zoo's remaining red panda Bruce, and his neighbours can rest easy. It will also be a huge relief to pet owners and families with young children across the ward.
