Community Councils

10 Apr 2024

Following a decision at a recent full council meeting, the consultation for the revision of Edinburgh community councils has been released. As Corstorphine is the largest in Edinburgh, the proposal is to split it into three, which means that the new West Town will be in a different area. Corstorphine will become ‘Corstorphine and Clermiston’; South Gyle will be part of ‘Gyle CC’ and  East and West Craigs will join together. Murrayfield CC will be unchanged.

There are also proposals to ensure that a chair cannot be chair for more than 5 years. Cllr Beal said, “Although this is a big shake up for Corstorphine, along with Murrayfield CC it is one of the most active Community Councils. Given the good work that they do, l hope that people will consider getting involved more, especially given fresh elections later this year” People can visit a drop in session at Corstorphine library on 16th April from 10am. It closes on 3rd May.
