Communal Bin Review - Phase 4

2 Oct 2023

Officers have reviewed residents’ and councillors’ comments with regards to the siting of the new bin hubs proposed for phase 4, which stretches from Rodney St through to Hamilton Place and up Dean St.

Through a number of motions and amendments there have been some changes to the process since it was first introduced.

The review framework now includes more flexibility on walking distance and on crossing the road to dispose of waste and recycling, under certain circumstances. As a result, alternative sites to those initially proposed have been agreed on Perth St, Dean St and Eyre Crescent.

Local Lib Dem councillor Hal Osler said, “Thank you to all the residents who wrote to me and the waste department with comments, I am delighted that sense prevailed and these changes were made. I realise though, that not all appeals were successful and I have written to officers to ask for feedback.”
