Cole-Hamilton Working with NHS Lothian on Local GP Crisis

It’s getting harder and harder to see a GP at the first time of asking and local MSP Alex Cole-Hamilton is working with local GP practices to get NHS Lothian to the table and work together towards a solution.

Alex has taken to time to visit most of the surgeries across West Edinburgh and the picture is much the same- massive workload pressures and little sign of relief.

Alex said: “West Edinburgh GPs and the staff that support them are working flat out to offer a first class service to their patients but that is made all the harder by the massive increase in new housing and the continuing backlog of conditions brought about by the pandemic.

I’m grateful for the hearing I’ve been given so far by NHS Lothian and am hopeful that a way forward can be found. Fast access to GP services for the people I serve in parliament is a key priority for me.”
