Cole-Hamilton leads on Access to Healthcare

2 Oct 2023

Access to wrap around child care, including after school clubs and child minders has become increasingly difficult in West Edinburgh - with demand in many cases far outstripping supply.

Local MSP Alex Cole-Hamilton has raised the matter in Parliament and will convene a virtual public meeting in late October with parents affected.

Alex said: “The Scottish government have put great store in their commitment to fund child care, but in the delivery of that commitment they have skewed the market so that private providers have found it much harder to recruit and retain staff.

"This has had a knock on impact on the provision of after hours and wrap around childcare. The situation is not sustainable and I’m determined to see the government take action.”
