Blackhall Library Update Dec23

1 Dec 2023

As many residents will know, unfortunately Blackhall Library is closed at the moment. An investigation now has concluded and sadly, ‘reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete’ (RAAC) has been found across the entire roof area. This is a concern because RAAC is at some risk of sudden failure and as a result, a number of public buildings recently have been closed across the country.

A report will be coming back to the Finance and Resources Committee in late January, with more detailed proposals on next steps in relation to Blackhall Library.  I know this is of great concern for residents so I have asked that Ward councillors be briefed on any proposals so that we have a chance to ask questions. I will let you know when I have more information.

In the meantime temporary provision of services is ongoing which can be found on the link below.
