Initial investigations have now been completed at Blackhall Library.

It has been confirmed that the entire roof of the building is constructed from Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC).

Across most of the building, ceilings require to be removed in order to allow the detailed surveys to be completed. These detailed surveys will still take several weeks to be completed.

Local Lib Dem councillor Hal Osler said, "Only once the full detailed surveys are completed will we know the extent of mitigation measures required to the building.

"This could range from extensive propping to recommendation for full roof replacement.

"In the meantime, the temporary arrangements in place for service delivery will remain in place and consideration will now be given to what improvements could be made to these arrangements due to the ongoing building situation.

"I will keep you informed as further information becomes available, if you require any further details please let me know."
