Bins in Parks

9 Jun 2025

Many residents have been in touch with the team to raise their concerns about the lack of bins in local parks - especially Gyle Park.

Local Lib Dem councillor Ed Thornley has been working with the Friends of Gyle Park, who recently made a deputation to the Council's Transport and Environment committee, calling for a fresh look at how the Council decides where to place bins in parks.

At the moment, bins are placed in ‘strategic locations’, such as park entrances. Now though, following the Friends' deputation, new location will be considered in consultation with local groups.

Ed said, "It was great to go along and support the Friends of Gyle Park in their deputation about bins in parks. It' so important the Council listens to local groups, and I'm delighted there should now be some changes.

“The Lib Dem team will keep working with the Friends and other groups to try and improve the bin situation.”
