'Bin hubs' highlight Edinburgh's area inequality

11 Oct 2023

Lots of residents across Leith, Broughton and Hillside have been in touch regarding the bin hubs planning to be installed in the area. Councillor Jack Caldwell said;

"Although there are undoubtably improvements with more frequent collections, residents have rightly been shocked when communal bins have appeared directly outside their flat window. With the noise of glass recycling and smell of waste, it's unfair on a number of residents. I will continue to work with both residents and the Waste team to find alternative locations where they are having an adverse impact."

Councillor Caldwell and the Lib Dems previously pushed for more flexibility on the scheme and are disappointed that others didn't take this on board.
