Voi have announed an expansion of the Edinburgh bike hire scheme into Leith at the start of November.

Councillor Caldwell used today's Council meeting to seek assurance from the Council Leader that bike stands were being looked into.

Bike stands are essential to keep pavements uncluttered for pedestrians, especially those with mobility challenges, but also improve accessibility for people hiring the bikes. The above image is on McDonald Road in October 2025.

The Council leader pledges to review the situation.

Councillor Caldwell says “While I welcome their expansion into Leith Walk ward and the north east of the city, improvements can be made to make our pavements and the bikes themselves more accessible.”

The Voi bikes are part of a two year trial scheme and will continue expanding across the city.
