Big Win for Buses in South Gyle!

After years of campaigning, the evening service of the No.12 bus will be restored, and the route restored to South Gyle Broadway.

The removal of the No.12 evening service in 2021 left many people in South Gyle unable to get back from the city centre after 9.30pm. This meant more people using the unlit, badly maintained footpath behind Torwood Crescent, late at night. While work to finally upgrade and light the path is now in progress, the restoration of the No.12's evening service is welcome news for South Gyle.

Additionally, the No.12 route will be moved from South Gyle Crescent onto South Gyle Broadway, providing a much more convenient bus route for residents.

Local Lib Dem councillor Ed Thornley said, “Since the evening service of the No. 12 bus was removed in 2021, we have been calling on Lothian Buses to restore it. I'm delighted that they have finally listened to us and the community, and are moving the No.12 route to serve South Gyle Broadway too. For too long, South Gyle has been poorly served by Lothian routes, and these changes could make a huge difference to residents who need an accessible and convenient bus service to the city centre.”
