Alex to host public meeting on Traveller Encampments
Local Lib Dem MSP Alex Cole-Hamilton will host a public meeting after significant public demand following the illegal Gypsy Traveller encampments that appeared in both Clermiston Park and St Margaret’s Park in the summer.
The meeting will be on Thursday 12th November at 6.30pm in the Munro Centre, 6 Parkgrove Street.
This will include stakeholders from Police Scotland, The City of Edinburgh Council and other local and community council representatives to discuss the impact on the local community and possible solutions both to prevent future illegal encampments and to provide a permanent alternative for the Gypsy Traveller community which works for them and for Edinburgh residents.
Alex said that: “It is my hope that we will be joined by a representative for the Gypsy Traveller community in Scotland as it feels appropriate that we should hear voices from that community.
"I would encourage residents to attend if it possible for them and if they have any questions or concerns, they wish to share with me ahead of the meeting, to please contact my office at alex.cole-hamilton.msp@parliament.scot or on 0131 334 1814.”
