A Thank You from Cllr Kevin McKay

A phenomenal result saw the Lib Dems go from 7% share of the first preference vote in the 2022 election to just over 20% in 2025. This was a close election, which involved the transfer of second or even third preferences. A night of high drama with myself being elected and Catriona Munro (Labour) a close second.

My commiserations to Catriona and indeed all my fellow candidates. It is not an easy thing to put yourself forward to be elected. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication and my deep respect to all those candidates and supporters that have taken part in this election.

I am truly overwhelmed by this result and I would like to thank all those people that put their faith in me to represent their views and their aspiration to continue to make this city a great place to live.

I will do my very best to earn that trust.

Also, I would like to re-assure all those folk that did not vote for me or indeed have lost confidence in our council in general. I am YOUR representative and I will do my best to earn your trust and to work hard for you - to gain your respect and restore your faith in your council. So please contact me if I can be of service.

Last but by no means least – I would like to thank the great Lib Dem Team behind me, all those unsung heroes that pound the street day after day, delivering the message come rain or shine …well mostly shine fortunately!

So, thank you Team – it has been great working with you all and I am sure will continue to do so in the future!
