Success! New safety measures to protect North Edinburgh's paths

Bollards will be placed at entrance and exit points to the North Edinburgh Paths Network in Trinity, Newhaven and Wardie following a spate of incidents with cars on paths last year.

CIlr Sanne Dijkstra-Downie campaigned to have entrance and exit points with bollards, and said: "After the scary incidents with cars on the old railway paths last autumn, including one where a car hit a dog and narrowly avoided pedestrians, I asked Council officers how we can stop this from happening again. 

I am really pleased that the Council will now install bollards at several entrance points to the paths so that vehicles that shouldn't be there cannot pass. This work Sanne campaigned to have entrance is due to start in May. and exit points protected with bollards.

The North Edinburgh Paths are a fantastic resource for our community and should Bollards will be placed at entrance be a safe haven for pedestrians, cyclists and exit points to the North Edinburgh and wheelers, including for many children Paths network in Trinity, Newhaven travelling to school. The Council is already and Wardie following a spate of investing more in the upkeep of these incidents with cars on the paths last wonderful paths, and these measures will year make them even safer."
