Road Safety on Parkgrove Drive

After years of pressure, Parkgrove Drive will finally see investment this year - to resurface the road, tackle rat-running and improve safety.
Last month, the Council's Transport and Environment committee signed off new funding to slow down rat-running traffic on Parkgrove Drive and tackle safety concerns at the junction with Parkgrove Avenue.
Local Lib Dem councillor Ed Thornley said, "This is a long-running issue. So long-running that it simply felt like the Council wasn't listening.
"Working across our political parties, local councillors brought a motion to the committee two years ago, and have been pushing for improvements ever since.
"We managed to get council officers out to Parkgrove Drive last year to meet with local residents and the Clermiston Primary Parent Council. Once they had seen it for themselves, they unerstand why so many residents were concerned.
“We'll now be watching the promised improvements carefully, to ensure they happen as quickly as possible.”
One small change in the area has already been made, with the installation of an island at the junction of Parkgrove Road and Terrace.
Ed said, “When we met with residents, they were clear that drivers cutting the corner at this junction was a serious problem for children on their way to school. Hopefully this will make this junction just a little bit safer."
